About Terra Luna Classic
In May 2022 Terra’s algorithmic stablecoin UST lost its dollar peg, and the mechanism meant to defend it — minting LUNA to absorb the selling — destroyed the token’s value instead. Tens of billions were wiped out in days, and the collapse took several lenders and funds with it.
The chain was forked. The new one is Terra, and the original, with its supply now in the trillions, became Terra Luna Classic. LUNC is that asset: a community-run continuation of a network whose original purpose no longer exists.
It trades on a supply so large that prices are quoted in tiny fractions of a cent, and a holding is normally an enormous number of units. Check the figure carefully before sending.
Sending and receiving LUNC
- Before you send. Terra Classic is a Cosmos-based chain, so a deposit to any exchange or custodial account carries a memo alongside the address — send the exact one shown, or the deposit lands in their general pool.
- Set a refund address. It is the only route funds have back to you if a swap cannot complete — a deposit below the minimum, or one arriving after the quote window closed. See refund handling.
