About Ripple
The XRP Ledger closes a new version roughly every four seconds through validator agreement rather than mining, with fees of a tiny fraction of a cent. A single confirmation is final, which makes XRP one of the fastest assets to move anywhere.
That speed is why XRP is so often used as an intermediate hop: value spends the minimum possible time in transit between two slower chains.
The ledger requires accounts to hold a small XRP reserve to exist, so a brand-new address cannot be emptied completely.
Sending and receiving XRP
- Before you send. Receiving XRP into an exchange or custodial account nearly always requires a destination tag. The platform shares one address across all its users, and the tag is what identifies you within it.
- Set a refund address. It is the only route funds have back to you if a swap cannot complete — a deposit below the minimum, or one arriving after the quote window closed. See refund handling.
- Nothing is held for you. Deposits are forwarded, not stored, and the data kept is the amount and the two addresses — purged once the swap finalizes. The full picture is on the privacy page.
XRP exchange pairs
Any pair is quotable, not just these — every supported coin can be swapped against every other, and the popular routes each have a page of their own.
XRP — common questions
How do I swap XRP without an account?
Pick the pair, enter an amount, and give a destination address and a refund address. There is no registration, no email and no identity check — you send the deposit from your own wallet and the funds are forwarded on. Nothing is held on your behalf at any point.
When is my XRP sent out?
As soon as the deposit has the confirmations the network requires — the exchange runs automatically, with no manual approval step and no queue on our side. You can follow every stage on the tracking page a swap gets the moment it is created.
Is there a minimum XRP amount?
Yes, and it moves with network conditions, so the widget shows the live figure for whichever pair you pick before you confirm. Minimums exist to keep on-chain costs a small fraction of the swap rather than swallowing it. There is no maximum.
Does a XRP transfer need a destination tag?
To or from an exchange or custodial account, almost certainly — those platforms share one address across all their users and the destination tag is what identifies you within it. Personal wallets do not need one. Always send the exact destination tag shown to you rather than one reused from an earlier transfer.
