About Theta Fuel
Theta runs a video and data delivery network in which participants share bandwidth and are paid for it. Its economics are split across two assets: THETA is staked by validators and governs the network, and TFUEL — the asset quoted here — is what actually pays for relaying and for transactions.
That split is the same idea VeChain uses, and it exists for the same reason: the cost of using a network should not move with the price of the asset securing it.
TFUEL is generated over time by staked THETA, so its supply grows on a schedule tied to network participation rather than to a fixed emission curve.
Sending and receiving TFUEL
- Before you send. TFUEL settles on the Theta network, not on Ethereum. Theta addresses use the same 0x format, so an Ethereum address will look entirely valid and be the wrong chain — check the receiving wallet supports Theta specifically.
- Set a refund address. It is the only route funds have back to you if a swap cannot complete — a deposit below the minimum, or one arriving after the quote window closed. See refund handling.
- Nothing is held for you. Deposits are forwarded, not stored, and the data kept is the amount and the two addresses — purged once the swap finalizes. The full picture is on the privacy page.
