About Worldcoin
World, formerly Worldcoin, issues WLD to people who verify they are a unique human by having their iris scanned by a device called an orb. The problem it addresses is real — telling people from bots without a central authority vouching for everyone — and the mechanism it chose is a biometric enrolment.
That mechanism is worth being plain about on a site like this one. Proof of personhood, however carefully the biometric template is handled, is a permanent identifier tied to a body rather than to a key you can rotate. It is close to the opposite of the property this exchange exists to preserve, and several data-protection regulators have ordered the project to stop collecting or to delete what it held.
None of which changes what the token is: an ERC-20 on Ethereum that our partners quote like any other. Owning WLD does not require enrolling.
