About Algorand
Algorand’s consensus selects the participants for each block by secret lottery, weighted by stake, and reaches agreement in one round. The consequence is that its blocks are final the moment they are produced: there is no reorganisation to wait out, so a deposit is either settled or it is not.
That is a meaningfully different guarantee from a mined chain, where a transaction only becomes gradually safer as blocks pile on top of it. It is why an ALGO transfer needs no confirmation count to be considered done.
Participation in consensus is open to any holder without delegating custody, and fees are a fixed fraction of a cent. The ledger is fully transparent.
Sending and receiving ALGO
- Set a refund address. It is the only route funds have back to you if a swap cannot complete — a deposit below the minimum, or one arriving after the quote window closed. See refund handling.
- Nothing is held for you. Deposits are forwarded, not stored, and the data kept is the amount and the two addresses — purged once the swap finalizes. The full picture is on the privacy page.
