About Sui
Sui models state as owned objects instead of account balances, and that choice buys it a shortcut: a transfer touching only objects one person owns has nothing to order against anyone else’s, so it can skip full consensus and finalise almost immediately. Only transactions over shared state take the slower path.
The practical result is settlement in a fraction of a second at negligible cost, which makes the Sui half of a swap effectively instant.
Sui addresses are 0x-prefixed and 32 bytes long — the same prefix as an Ethereum address but longer, and belonging to a different network entirely.
Sending and receiving SUI
- Before you send. A Sui address begins 0x like an Ethereum one but is longer. The similarity is worth a second look before sending: the two networks share nothing, and a transfer to the wrong one is not recoverable.
- Set a refund address. It is the only route funds have back to you if a swap cannot complete — a deposit below the minimum, or one arriving after the quote window closed. See refund handling.
- Nothing is held for you. Deposits are forwarded, not stored, and the data kept is the amount and the two addresses — purged once the swap finalizes. The full picture is on the privacy page.
