These are reference figures from our own rate feed, not quotes — every swap is re-priced across our liquidity partners at the moment you confirm, and the best receive amount wins. How that comparison works is on the methodology page.

About Stellar
Stellar closes a new ledger about every five seconds through validator agreement rather than mining, at fees of a tiny fraction of a cent. It was built for moving money between currencies and jurisdictions, so its design assumptions are a payment network’s rather than a settlement layer’s.
Accounts must hold a small XLM reserve to exist, which means a Stellar account cannot be emptied completely — a balance that looks stuck at a fraction of a coin is usually this rule rather than a failure.
The ledger is public, and Stellar’s built-in compliance tooling means the institutions issuing assets on it can and do freeze them. XLM itself is not freezable in that way.
Sending and receiving XLM
- Before you send. Receiving XLM into an exchange or custodial account almost always requires a memo. The platform shares one address across all its users and the memo is what identifies you within it — a deposit sent without it lands in their general pool, and recovering it depends entirely on their support process. Personal wallets do not need one.
- Set a refund address. It is the only route funds have back to you if a swap cannot complete — a deposit below the minimum, or one arriving after the quote window closed. See refund handling.
- Nothing is held for you. Deposits are forwarded, not stored, and the data kept is the amount and the two addresses — purged once the swap finalizes. The full picture is on the privacy page.
XLM exchange pairs
Any pair is quotable, not just these — every supported coin can be swapped against every other, and the popular routes each have a page of their own.

XLM — common questions
What is the current XLM price?
$0.1757, from our own rate feed at the time this page was served. It is a reference figure rather than a quote: every swap is re-priced live across our liquidity partners the moment you confirm, and the best receive amount is what the order is created with.
How do I swap XLM without an account?
Pick the pair, enter an amount, and give a destination address and a refund address. There is no registration, no email and no identity check — you send the deposit from your own wallet and the funds are forwarded on. Nothing is held on your behalf at any point.
When is my XLM sent out?
As soon as the deposit has the confirmations the network requires — the exchange runs automatically, with no manual approval step and no queue on our side. You can follow every stage on the tracking page a swap gets the moment it is created.
Is there a minimum XLM amount?
Yes, and it moves with network conditions, so the widget shows the live figure for whichever pair you pick before you confirm. Minimums exist to keep on-chain costs a small fraction of the swap rather than swallowing it. There is no maximum.
Does a XLM transfer need a memo?
To or from an exchange or custodial account, almost certainly — those platforms share one address across all their users and the memo is what identifies you within it. Personal wallets do not need one. Always send the exact memo shown to you rather than one reused from an earlier transfer.
